‘A History of Habit’ Available Soon

A History of Habit: From Aristotle to Bourdieu will be available in the coming weeks. Amazon says it’s available May 1, but availability might be closer to mid-May. In any case, there’s the cover for it. Adam and I are really happy with how it turned out and are very grateful to Matt Harris for the cover image.

Congratulations for the publication. I am kind of intrigued about how it is considered Bourdieu’s concept habitus in relation with the notion of habit. In Bourdieu, habitus is not quite referred as habit, it is much more dynamic and systematic with respect to Bourdieu’s main conceptualization of the field, and this to the point that the difference between one and the other is not quite reconcilable if taken socioanalytically. Intrigued also by the fact that Aristotle also considered the concept of habitus as far as I know, more with regard to the idea of habit, yes, but not as to take them in the same evolutive line, or at least not in a straight line to Bourdieu. I may be wrong, so it will be interesting to see how you traced this line through time. Salutes 🙂
